Domestic geekery + pinups =

The worlds first knitting pinup calendar, Off The Needles! A while ago a good friend of mine Stephanie came up with the spectacular idea to combine knitting and pinups to create a calendar of sexy knitters in pinup style photos. The best part is that all the models in the project are actual knitters! Sure she couldve hired some models and stuck some sticks in their hands, but a pair of knitting needles does not a knitter make. The calendar is packed full of local Bay Area knitters of every shape, size and look so its really a beautiful look at all the different types of women who appreciate the wonderful craft of knitting. Each photo will not only feature the girls knitting, but also showcase a sexy piece of knitted clothing be it some fishnets or a knitted bra.

Well she just happened to ask this lil knitter to be Ms June! Let just say I was flattered and terrified. Im not usually the one in front of the camera, me and my Gagaesque nose dont seem to photograph to well and I just act like a big dork in general. But with the talents of an amazing photographer and Stephanie's artistic direction they made a model out of me!

Heres a sneak peak of one of the shots, although you'll have to wait to see the final product in the calendar.

Props go to Stephanie for knitting the awesome hot pink bikini top for me! I wouldve done it myself but last time I knit a bikini top it ended up looking like it was made for someone with tiny ice cream cone shaped boobs. Not pretty at all.

So heres where I need your help. This project is completely funded by Kickstarter which has helped fund many great projects. It works in that someone posts their project concept, sets a funding goal and a deadline. Then people become backers of a project by pledging any given amount in exchange for either the product itself or for credit or whatever. If enough people pledge the project goes through! Right now Off the Needles is just $1,125 shy of its goal and the deadline is in 15 days! So if you want to see the final photo and the rest of the pinups why not make a pledge here. You can reserve your own copy of the calendar (hey the holidays are coming up!) for a mere $20 and bring these photos to the world! Hell for $10 you get a copy of one of the prints signed by the models...and if you choose me I promise to write you a recipe or doodle something dorky on it.

So please pledge even a dollar and help bring sexy knitting pinups to the world!

PS- I know its been kind of barren in these parts, Katie has been on a whirlwind comic convention tour and Ive been bunkered down at my desk doing double time with a coworker on vacation. But dont worry Ive got some more posts lined up for you today including a new fast food mashup from a famous burger chain. ;)

It took us ages to get dressed - we got changed about 3 times before finally settling on a bit of sparkle...

there is too much alcohol in this drink? i didn't even know that there was alcohol in it...but that totally makes sense for causing me much hangover relief. but where will i get my glorious magical elixir now?!?
